Import Email
ArcMail appliance has the ability to import individual email files.
Procedure 1-13 - Perform the following steps to Import Mail:
Step Action
1 Click the MESSAGE TOOLS icon.
2 Click Import Mail.
3 Import individual mail files into the appliance by configuring the following fields:
• Import directory - Use the drop-down list to select the directory to be imported. Files in this directory and its subdirectories will be imported. This directory comes from the appliance mounted network storage.
• Import extension- Add an extension if you wish to limit the files the appliance will attempt to import. This option is useful when a mix of files resides in the appliance’s import directory.
• Domain for Exchange addresses - Enter the domain for converting internal Exchange X.500 addresses to standard email addresses. The domain entered in this field is saved for future imports.
• Email address for results - Enter the email address to receive the notification of the import results.
• Start date (yyyymmdd) - Optionally enter a start date of messages to be imported. Leave blank for no start date limit.
• End date (yyyymmdd) - Optionally enter an end date of messages to be imported. Leave blank for no end date limit.
Note: Changing the advanced settings is only needed for rare situations.
For most imports the default settings should be used.
Click the Show advanced settings checkbox to gain access to the advanced settings. The advanced settings are described below:
• Exchange X.500 address string - This string can be changed for nonstandard Exchange X.500 configurations.
• Delay between messages - This field sets the delay (in seconds) between each message that is imported into the appliance.
For example: A setting of 3 causes the appliance to wait 3 seconds before
importing the next message.
Use 0 for no delay between importing individual messages.
Note: Fractions of a second or decimal places may be used (i.e.1/2, 0.5).
• Maximum queue depth -This field sets the maximum depth of the appliance’s import queue. Making the queue too large could cause a significant delay in importing new archived emails in high traffic environments. Once the appliance reaches the maximum queue depth, it will throttle import of messages to sustain the maximum queue capacity until the job is finished.
4 Click Next. The appliance searches through the import directory and lists all available folders and files ready for import.
5 Click Import. The import process runs in the background. An email is sent to the Email address for results contact when the process is complete.
Note: Use the Import Status screen (under MESSAGE TOOLS) to view import status information.
