Restore Email Domain

Restore Email Domain

The Domain Restore screen is used to restore ALL messages from the archive based on a date range.

It is possible to restore ALL email for ALL users of an entire domain. To restore an individual user's email, please use the Archive Search screen. To restore email, select the domain you wish to restore, choose the restore options (see below for more information on restore options) and select the date range of the email you wish to restore.

• Domain Name - Select the domain name of the email you want to restore.

• Restore Sent Mail? - By default, the appliance only restores users' inbound email. There are options of restoring sent email by checking the Restore Sent Email box.
Note: If the restore sent mail option is checked, sent mail appears in the user's inbox. The user can then sort their email by sender and drag their sent email to their Sent folder. Sent email will have the sender’s name in
the “from” field.

• Add [Defender Restored] To Subject Line? - The ArcMail appliance can add the tag [Defender Restored] to the email subject line.
Note: The “add [ ] to subject line” is typically used when a user or administrator restores a single or small number of email messages to assist the user in identifying which emails were restored by the appliance.
Restoring an entire domain with this tag would probably not be useful as every subject line in every message would begin with [Defender Restored].

Replace Message-ID: ? - Some servers reject new messages that have a Message-ID the same as an existing email message (Message-IDs are to be unique). If the option to replace the Message-ID with a new Message-ID is selected, the user receives a copy of all messages restored, even if they have a copy of the original message. If you choose not to replace the Message-ID, some mail servers ignore duplicate email messages and only deliver messages that do not exist in the user's inbox. This setting is particularly useful in the case of a partial loss of email.

• Dates - This field restores messages archived within the selected date range. If no range is specified, ALL stored messages for the selected domain is restored.

— Start - Use this field to locate emails archived on or after the date entered in this field.

— End - Use this field to locate emails archived on or before the date entered in this field.
Note 1: Leaving the Start Date blank selects everything archived on or before the End Date.
Note 2: Leaving the End Date blank selects everything archived on or after the Start Date.
Note 3: Leaving both dates blank restores everything for the selected domain from the appliance’s archive.
