Antivirus on Archive appliance

Do we need to install antivirus on the Arcmail appliance? If we need to do so, then how?

By default there isn't an antivirus program installed. viruses in attachments within the email database don't affect the archive, and should be rare – that's for your email server's spam and virus filters already. It's also only accessible by the email server and the archive interface, so its hard to access. Plus it runs in Linux, and thus is difficult to meaningfully infect. So you don't need to install an antivirus on the Defender.
