General Options

Most options in this screen are configured during installation. The procedure below describes how to modify these settings.

Procedure 1-20 - Perform the following steps to modify General Options settings:

1 Click the CONFIGURATION icon.
2 Click General Options.
3 Configure the following options:

• Hostname - Fully qualified hostname of the ArcMail appliance server. This should match the hostname of the archive listener.
• Admin email address - This is the email address of the administrator that receives alerts and messages from the appliance. This email address is used on the Support screen under the “Send this information to” section.
The format is username@companyname.xxx.
• Archiver email address - This is the email address used for archiving messages. Microsoft Exchange and most other email servers use an external SMTP email address to archive messages.
Example: archiver@appliance.company.com

• Network address(es) (in format: IP_address/mask bits) - This field is the IP address range(s) (in CIDR) of the network(s) containing the appliance and the email server(s). Class C networks have a mask bit of / 24, class B networks have a mask bit of /16.

Example: Appliance’s IP is 192.168.1.200 and the email server’s IP is
192.168.1.10. Enter 192.168.1.0/24.

Example: Appliance’s IP is 192.168.1.200 and 2 email servers IPs of
192.168.1.10 and 10.1.10.144. Enter 192.168.1.0/24,10.1.10.0/24.

Note: It is important to have this IP address in the appropriate format (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/NN). A comma must separate multiple IP addresses.

• Primary domain name - The primary email domain name associated with the network.
Example: company.com

• Debug level - Specifies the debugging level from 0 (no debugging) to 9 (verbose). Default: 3

 

WARNING

Do not enable verbose debugging unless specifically directed by
ArcMail technical support. Verbose debugging stores
large amounts of data which can affect system performance.

• Send welcome and password change email to users? - The appliance will auto-generate a message to new users when their account is created if this box is checked.
• Welcome Message - Enter customized text here for the auto-generated ‘New User’ message. Administrators may wish to add text to help inform users about the ArcMail appliance product and its use.
• Password Change Message - This text is sent when a user requests a password change and the appliance is not set up for authentication with Active Directory.

4 Click Save to save the configuration changes.
5 Click the Apply Configuration Changes button.
6 Click Apply at the next screen to confirm.
